What BusPlus means
- In Serbian: БусПлус
- Pronounced: bus-plus
- Category: Practical
BusPlus was the electronic ticketing system for Belgrade's public transport — a contactless smart card you topped up and tapped to pay for buses, trams and trolleybuses. For years it was the standard way to pay fares, and travellers still search for it when planning a trip.
It is no longer needed. Belgrade phased out paid fares and, from 1 January 2025, made its city and suburban public transport free for all passengers, making it the largest city in Europe to do so. There is no longer any ticket, card or app required to ride the regular network: you simply board a bus, tram or trolleybus and take a seat.
A few special services sit outside the free network and are paid on board — most notably the A1 airport minibus and certain express (E) lines. But for ordinary city travel, the old BusPlus card is history and getting around by public transport costs nothing.
Common questions about BusPlus
Do I still need a BusPlus card in Belgrade?

Is all public transport in Belgrade free now?
Regular city and suburban buses, trams and trolleybuses are free. A few special services are still paid on board, including the A1 airport minibus and some express (E) lines, but everyday public transport within the city costs nothing.
