South Korea is preparing its presence at Expo 2027 Belgrade through a tender run by KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), the state trade body whose World Expo team put out a call for the "2027 Belgrade Expo Korean Pavilion Exhibition Service," per the Korean Architects Association (KIA) notice. The tendered budget is 9,000,000,000 KRW (roughly €5.6 million at current rates), covering a comprehensive exhibition-service scope: architectural design, interior construction, video production and industrial design are all within the bid's remit, and eligible bidders include registered architectural offices, interior construction firms, video production companies and industrial design firms.
Bids were due 29 April 2026 at 12:00, submitted through Korea's Nara Market e-procurement portal, with the winning bidder to be chosen by negotiated bid rather than lowest price — a selection method Korean public tenders use when design and technical quality are weighted alongside cost. The resulting contract is structured as a phased, long-term agreement running from commencement through 30 November 2027, spanning the exposition's operating period. As of this writing, the pavilion's theme, design and the winning bidder have not been made public.
National pavilions sit in the International Participant Area of the 25-hectare Expo site at Surčin, in the western part of Belgrade — the zone that becomes the city's new Belgrade Fair after the event. The site is about 5 km from Nikola Tesla Airport and roughly 13.5 km southwest of central Belgrade (official planning figures), so if you fly in, you land closer to the Expo grounds than to town. Exact positions within the zones haven't been published yet; we'll add the location when the site plan lands.
